ABOUT US

From the mountains of South Tyrol to the heart of Austria - the story of SIUS starts in Seis am Schlern, the hometown of our founder Michael Weissenegger, and now continues in Wien Influenced by experiences in gastronomy, between alpine hospitality and fine cuisine, an unmistakable passion, developed, which has since been the breeding ground for SIUS non-alcoholic creations.

“As a South Tyrolean , I came into contact with gastronomy at an early age. In Italian culture , cuisine and tradition are highly valued. But I always had the desire to do something different: traditions can be wonderful, but at the same time they can also hinder progress.
During my studies in Vienna, I began to indulge my fascination with beverages and fermentation , especially kombucha. At the same time, inspired by my father-in-law, I started brewing my own beers. I experimented, made mistakes and learned from them. Over the years, my initial fascination developed into valuable knowledge and expertise.

Despite my great passion for brewing beer, I felt a growing desire to go beyond traditional boundaries and brew more creative beverages: I began to explore the topic of non-alcoholic drinks. When I immersed myself in the world of proxies during some extraordinary first tastings, I immediately knew where I belonged. Impressed by the creativity, openness and innovative power of the scene, the journey of SIUS began.”

After many experiments, setbacks and new attempts, the first proxies were finally created. They are produced by Michael with the finest craftsmanship near Vienna, in his father-in-law's brewery in Ybbs an der Donau, Lower Austria.
